After more than 30 design iterations and field trials, the blanket was finalized at 70 centimeters wide and 180 centimeters long. It weighs about 1.5 kilograms, incorporates a stab-resistant layer and can be folded and stored in about 10 seconds. The blanket is typically used by two officers and uses a wide hook-and-loop fastener to secure the person’s arms while reducing the risk of injury. Wuchang police have deployed 80 sets of the blanket across local police facilities, and the equipment has been used in nearly 100 operations.
